All of these lovely Sunny images were kindly supplied by Marc Goldman of Monterey, CA, and show a number of Californian NDBs, which were photographed on a local Beacon Hunting trip. These images show the NDBs and Marker Beacons at Chualar, Pajaro, Munso and Reiga, and I'm very grateful to Marc for sharing them with us, and allowing us to display them here in the Beaconworld NDB Picture Gallery. |

This is called Chualar on the California aero chart, but is actually nearer to the small town of Gonzales. Near by is the sewer plant for Gonzales. It is at 36 29 27 N 121 28 30 W near the Salinas river. Mountains way in back are the Gabilans, and the large town of Salinas, out in the middle of nowhere, but more or less on the path to Salinas Airport. (250.0kb) |

Pajaro (pa har o) off the end of the runway a ways from Watsonville Airport. This also has a 75 MHz marker beacon. Fairly common, it is at 36 54 48.8 N 121 48 28.6 W. (335.0kb) |
|
MR Munso beacon and 75 MHz marker beacon, it is at 36 37 14.71N 121 59 19.09W. The beacon in the light house has been gone for a good while, it is home of a calibration point for the Loran C (100KHz) system. (363.0kb) |
|
Another close up of MR. The lighthouse is nearby at 36 38 00 N 121 56 01W. This is a beautiful scenic area, and just up the road is Pebble Beach, where the "The Crosby" pro-am Golf Classic was recently held. (341.0kb) |

This one is out east of Livermore at 37 41 32.0 N 121 41 2.6 W. It has a 75 MHz Marker for Livermore Airport. Yet again it is across the street from a large sewer plant - strange! It is also a couple of miles to the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory - a.k.a "The Rad Lab". (254.0kb) |

As above, but seen this time from a little closer in. (350.0kb) |
